What Are Sports Injuries?

Sports injuries result from acute trauma or repetitive stress associated with athletic activities. Sports injuries can affect cartilage, bones, joints or soft tissue (ligaments, muscles, tendons).

Sports injuries can also be associated with time missed from training and competition.
The Facility

What Are Sports Injuries?

We work with our athletes one-on-one which allows us to develop a plan specific to their needs. We not only examine the site of injury, but we will also assess your movement as a whole. We want to restore optimal movement and function in order to set you up for success upon returning to the playing field. Treatments often consist of hands-on techniques, functional dry needling, movement analysis, strength training, and education. You will be given work to do outside of your treatment session to ensure we are progressing in the right direction.
As with any medical evaluation, our first step is to achieve an accurate diagnosis. Because the State of Louisiana no longer requires a referral from your doctor, we can begin the evaluation process immediately. If we determine you should be seen by a specialist, The Training Room has relationships with the best orthopedic specialists in our region. In many cases, we can begin developing a physical therapy treatment plan the same day. Our goal is to keep you as active as possible throughout this entire process. Our goal is

For the Beginners

Injuries can be scary. They not only come with pain, but also a lot of uncertainty. It is easy for us to wonder if we will ever return to our sport at the same level, or will this be something I have to deal with for the rest of my life. At The Training Room we will not only examine the site of your pain, but your movement as a whole. We know that oftentimes the site of your pain is just that, and there are other things that play a part with your pain and discomfort. We will design a plan specific to you to alleviate your pain, increase your mobility, improve your strength, and provide you with the education needed to reduce the risk of this happening in the future.

For the Everyday Athlete

Complete rest is oftentimes not the best advice when dealing with an injury. Being athletes ourselves, we understand how frustrating it can be to be sidelined with an injury. We want to provide you with an environment that allows you to stay active and to continue to work toward your goals while respecting your injury. This is the great thing about having your Physical Therapist and Strength Coach all under one roof.

For the Competitive Athlete

We are able to transition our athletes from the training table to a strength program and back to the field of competition. Your rehab should challenge you both physically and mentally to ensure you are ready to crush the competition once you are cleared to play.

Our Competitive Advantage With Sports Injuries

We know the biggest predictor for a future injury is incorrect form, lack of flexibility and weakness, and a previous injury. This is why we will learn about you and your personal goals and train you to be as strong and as fit as possible while you are sidelined from your sport. For the longest time, injured athletes were told to rest. Although this advice can be helpful, it is incomplete. Total rest often results in overall deconditioning leaving you at a disadvantage when you are cleared to return to the play. We will determine what training you are safe to perform and concentrate your program accordingly.
We understand that your rehab program should mimic your sport, however at times we may have postoperative athletes cross train to protect their surgical site but improve their strength and flexibility. Our goal is for you to return stronger and more resilient then you were when the injury occurred. At The Training Room our team is composed of competitive athletes that are also Doctors of Physical Therapy, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Crossfit Coaches, and Nutrition Coaches. We understand how important your sport is to you.

For many of us it’s part of our identity and what we do. We have all suffered from an injury at one time or another, and understand there is a lot more to an injury than just the physical injury itself. By combining Physical Therapy, Strength and Conditioning and Nutrition under one roof we are able to transition our clients from the treatment table to the playing field. At The Training Room our goal is not to return to baseline, our goal is to guide you to return to play as a more productive athlete than you were prior to your injury!

The Training Room has been amazing, I wish I started earlier. Within a couple months I went from not being able to run to doing a 5k. I can run and lift weights and in the best shape I’ve been in ever. For years I would just go to the gym on my own and kind of had that sense you didn’t know 100% of what you were doing but didn’t realize how much you were sort of missing and how much easier and better things would be if you just worked with the right people. You guys have been awesome.

I travel four hours per session to see this team. Why? With five torn rotator cuff muscles and one surgery I needed the best. I am a physician and like all physicians time restrained. I needed to function yesterday. I was provided with a unique and skilled exam, therapy, workout and ultimately the result that i wanted which was to throw a baseball again to my son, pain free!!! All of my goals were met.
